FOSSonCloud is produced by the team at Ordinary Experts, an AWS DevOps consultancy focused on Infrastructure as Code. We have applied our decades of experience to simplify the running of open source applications on AWS.
About FOSSonCloud
At Ordinary Experts, we have been working with AWS and Infrastructure as Code since 2014. Over that time, we have developed infrastructure automation solutions for hundreds of workloads. We saw first-hand how companies were struggling to manage cloud complexity as their environments grew. We also noticed companies deploying open source solutions into their cloud environments - each time learning the specifics of deploying that particular solution.
In 2020, we decided to start publishing our own patterns for deploying popular open source projects on AWS - our first pattern deployed Drupal (along with a pipeline for deploying new application versions) in the AWS Marketplace. After that we developed similar patterns for other popular open source projects, like Jitsi (open source video conferencing), Mastodon (open source micro-blogging), PixelFed (open source photo sharing), PeerTube (open source video hosting / sharing), and others.
We also open-sourced all the code that we use to develop these patterns. They are built in Python using AWS CDK - we have a common library of components that lets us keep each pattern up-to-date with the latest AWS features.
